INTEGRATE – Webinar: closing event of the China-German collaboration project on climate mitigation and air pollution control
Since the Paris agreement, as leaders among industrial or newly industrialized nations, both Germany and China have made pledges to reach net zero emissions by 2045 and 2060 respectively. However, these long-term climate visions have been met with recent uncertainties due to events such as global energy crisis, supply-chain disruptions as well as increasing climate impact on the economy. Despite recent international events, reaching the net-zero climate goals in the two countries is nevertheless high on the agenda. Under this situation, international academic collaboration on climate change is very much called for and needed.
How to make fundamental and fast transformation towards low-carbon societies is the subject of the INTEGRATE project, funded by the ministries of both countries. The project focuses on climate policies which optimize the pathway towards these low-carbon visions. It also looks into the synergies between climate protection and reducing local air pollution, consumer and firm behavior towards policy incentives, as well as the impact of international trade towards the environment. During the INTEGRATE final event the project leads will present the project results and discuss them with external panelists on climate mitigation and international relation. The event will take place online and in English.
