IAMC welcomes NREL as new Member

Starting January 2022, the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium welcomes the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) among its members.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the U.S. Department of Energy’s primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research. It is home to three national research centers—solar, wind, and bioenergy—in addition to several programs that advance cutting-edge research in areas such as strategic energy analysis and energy systems integration. Carbon management and sustainability are important cross-cutting considerations in all research and deployment activities at the laboratory. NREL has many ongoing collaborations with integrated assessment model (IAM) teams, among others at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL), the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). For many years, NREL has supported the advancement of IAMs via model intercomparisons, joint analyses, and calibration efforts for low-carbon energy technologies, technology adoption, and future renewable energy generation under climate change uncertainties. NREL is excited to join the IAMC and continue to create new relationships across the community.
