IAMC SWG on National Scenarios (NMSF Study) – Update
We would like you to the upcoming webinar scheduled for Wednesday, 5 November at 9:00 CET/Vienna and 14:00 CET/Vienna with Saritha Sudharmma Vishwanathan who will provide an update on the IAMC Scientific Working Group (SWG) on National Scenarios (NMSF Study).
National development and mitigation pathways are influenced by international agreements, however implementation is dependent on national circumstances and commitments. The last decade has observed an emergence of numerous national studies, however comprehensive assessment is required for within country and cross-country analysis across the board. In the past 18 months, 100 + national, subnational, regional and global modelling teams have shown interest to participate in the study. We have registered 90+ teams registered from 36+ countries, out of which about 50+ modelling from 20+ countries have submitted their national scenarios as on August 31, 2025 (making it one of the largest model and scenario intercomparison exercise). In this session, we present the details and challenges faced during the vetting process and data validation following by the results from the initial analysis. We will open the floor to discussion and present the possible ideas on the next study.
