Summer School “Climate Action Beyond Governments: Assessing and Strengthening Integrity” (22-26 June 2026 – Nijmegen, Netherlands)
Climate action is urgent and governments can’t do it alone. Businesses, cities, civil society, and transnational initiatives are stepping up action and commitments, but concerns are also rising about real-world impact, greenwashing, accountability, and inequitable outcomes. This summer school helps you investigate the integrity of climate action and build practical skills to strengthen credible and accelerated voluntary climate action. The programme gives insights into multiple areas such as governance, modelling revolving about topics that play a role in the climate action of cities, regions, and companies.
Over one week, you will:
🗺️ map the landscape of voluntary climate action and identify core integrity challenges
🤝 work together with real cases and current assessment approaches used in research and policy
➡️ co-develop an actor-specific roadmap for high-integrity climate action (e.g., for cities/regions, corporates, finance sector, cooperative initiatives)
We strongly encourage applications from the Global South. A limited number of scholarships is available for participants from low and lower-middle income countries.
