IAMC 2025 Call for expressions of interest – Local Organising Committee and Conference Venue
18th Annual Meeting of the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium (IAMC) – Fall 2025

The Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium (IAMC) solicits proposals for the Local Organising Committee and the Conference Venue for its 18th Annual Meeting, tentatively to be held in fall 2025 on the American continent. The event will be held in person, with a portfolio of online sessions as part of the programme.
The IAMC Annual Meeting is a scientific meeting open to all researchers from organisations involved in integrated assessment modelling and is designed to allow participants to share developments in methods, models and data. With 250-350 individual in person participants attending from all over the world, international researchers scholars, economists and students convene at the IAMC Annual Meetings in the spirit of economic discovery, research, analysis and collaboration.
Activities take place on 3 weekdays and include plenary lectures, presentations in parallel sessions, poster sessions, the announcement of awards, a welcome reception as social event. The IAMC Annual Meetings take place in person, with a portfolio of online events as part of the programme. Presentations in oral sessions (keynote sessions, and parallel oral sessions) will be held in person, with attendance both in person and online.
Two kinds of poster sessions are planned: fully online and fully in person. Researchers in integrated assessment modelling, including those who are not currently members of the IAMC, are invited to submit papers for presentation at the Annual Meetings.
The role of Local Organisers is an international showcase for the entities organising the event, introducing the integrated assessment modelling community to their institutions and their countries. It is an opportunity for the Local Organisers to offer an important contribution to the development of the IAMC community and its discipline.
IAMC Annual Meetings are held on a turn basis in Europe, Asia and the Americas. For 2025, submissions of expressions of interest from the Americans are accepted.
Universities, research organisations, or groups of organisations that intend to propose their candidature are invited to submit their applicationsaccording to the following submission process.
Selections phases. The selection process is structured in two phases.
Phase 1. Expression of interest
Expressions of interest consist of a formal letter stating the candidate’s interest to host the 2025 IAMC Annual Meeting. A presentation of the candidate including the candidate’s relevant experience in organising and hosting conferences should be attached to the letter.
For 2025, submissions of expressions of interest from the Americans are accepted.
Expressions of interest will be evaluated based on the candidate’s ability to manage a IAMC Annual Meeting scale event, including experience in event management.
Expressions of interest should be sent to iamc@iamconsortium.org by June 15th, 2024. Candidates will be notified of the outcome of this first selection phase by June 30th, 2024. Candidates who pass this first selection phase will be invited to submit a full proposal by July 30th, 2024.
Phase 2. Full proposal
Full proposals consist of: (1) a detailed presentation of the candidate’s concept of the conference; (2) a preliminary conference budget; (3) a presentation of the conference venue and the technologies supporting the event; and (4) suggested dates for the event (ideal dates should not overlap with events related to the climate change policy arena , or with other important events in our field).
Full proposals may be accompanied by any other documentation that the candidates judge useful for the evaluation process. IAMC may ask candidates to present additional documents at a later date.
The full proposal should be sent to iamc@iamconsortium.org by July 30th, 2024.
Decision process. Selections will be made by the IAMC Scientific Steering Committee.
Selection criteria. Proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
(a) ability to propose an hybrid annual meeting, having as a minimum requirement a portfolio of online events as part of the programme (with attendance both in person and online);
(b) location (including consideration of travel cost and time for participants, amenities, on-site transportation, ease of obtaining entrance visas, etc.);
(c) accommodation (cost, quality, capacity);
(d) attention shown to environmental sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion criteria in organisation of the event;
(e) facilities (quality of plenary rooms, quality and number of meeting rooms, equipment, meals, social programme, etc.);
(f) technologies (ability to identify and manage the tools needed for efficient hybrid participation)
(g) plans for participants’ engagement and sessions facilitation (information about how the hybrid participation is run from the viewpoint of the participants’ engagement and sessions facilitation);
(h) communication plan (evaluation of the plan for advertising the conference, availability of papers, etc.);
(i) administration (budget, qualifications of Local Organising Committee and local supporting agencies);
(j) funding (grants for students, grants for participants from developing countries, other sponsorships).
