PARIS REINFORCE is an EU-funded research and innovation projectt which aims to revolutionise the scientific paradigm and underpin climate policymaking with authoritative scientific processes and tangible results.
The project has several objectives: firstly to develop a novel, demand-driven, integrated assessment model-oriented framework for effectively supporting the design and analysis of climate policies in the European Union as well as in other emitting countries, in respect to the Paris Agreement and associated challenges, secondly to enhance the legitimacy of the scientific processes in support of climate policymaking, by introducing an innovative stakeholder inclusion framework (co-design) and improving the transparency of the respective models, methods and tools, and finally to introduce innovative policy support frameworks that improve the robustness of modelling outcomes against different types of uncertainties, inherent in both the climate change domain and integrated assessment processes.
By engaging policymakers and scientists/modellers, the project will create the open-access and transparent data exchange platform I2AM PARIS, in order to support the effective implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the preparation of future action pledges, the development of 2050 decarbonisation strategies, and the reinforcement of the 2023 Global Stocktake.
Acknowledging the need to employ diverse methodologies and tools in order to address the multiplicity of challenges, the unique approach of PARIS REINFORCE provides a change in the existing scientific paradigm, by introducing innovative integrative processes.
