International Symposium “The Practices of Market Mechanism in European and Asian Climate Actions”, August 6-7, 2025

The International Symposium on “The Practices of Market Mechanism in European and Asian Climate Actions” will take place on August 6–7, 2025, at Meiji University in Tokyo, Japan. Participants will have the option to attend the symposium in person at Meiji University or virtually via video conferencing

This symposium aims to explore the practical implementation of market-based mechanisms in climate actions across Europe and Asia. It will bring together scholars, policy experts, and practitioners to discuss recent trends, challenges, and opportunities in carbon pricing, international cooperation under the Paris Agreement, and the development of carbon markets.

Agenda Highlights

Panel I: The Carbon Pricing Strategy under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement

Discussion on how various countries are implementing carbon pricing instruments aligned with the cooperative approaches outlined in Article 6.

Panel II: The Trend of International Carbon Market Development

Exploration of emerging global carbon market frameworks and the dynamics of cross-border carbon transactions.

Panel III: Challenges and Opportunities of Bilateral and Multilateral Carbon Project Development

Analysis of practical barriers and enabling factors for developing mitigation activities through international cooperation.

Roundtable Discussion: How to Promote the Low Carbon Transition through Carbon Market Mechanism Application

An open dialogue focused on policy design, regional collaboration, and the role of carbon markets in achieving long-term climate goals.
