Job opening- RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment Climate-economic modeling research opening (Milan, Italy)
The RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment (EIEE) is a research
institute co-founded in 2018 by Resources for the Future (RFF) and the Euro-Mediterranean Center
on Climate Change (CMCC). The Institute’s mission is to improve environmental, energy, and
natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement. EIEE
promotes a highly interdisciplinary, international and collaborative research experience. The
institute is committed to high academic standards, as testified by 6 ERC grants won by EIEE
EIEE is encouraging applications of junior/senior researchers interested in climate-economic
modeling. We are looking to increase existing research capacity in integrated assessment
modeling/agent based modeling. Model applications should focus on one or more of the following
fields: economics of climate neutrality, integration of climate impacts, adaptation and mitigation,
technological innovation, labour markets.
The ideal candidate for this position holds (or is close to completing) a PhD in computational
economics, applied mathematics or operations research or related areas of research. Strong
programming skills and experience are an absolute requirement. Mid-career researchers are also
encouraged to apply.
Duties will be carried out in Milan (Italy) in the vibrant design district (@BASE). The selected
candidate will interact with researchers of different research background and nationalities. She/he
will focus on writing top quality scientific papers, will be engaged in a global network, and will have
the chance to present at major conferences. EIEE promotes a collaborative working place

Assignments are expected to begin from January 2022 onwards. The appointment period will
be initially of one year, renewable for two additional years. The gross salary will be based on
qualification and working experience and competitive with major research centres in Europe.
