IAMC Scientific Steering Committee meeting of 27 September 2021 – summary
The last monthly meeting of the IAMC Scientific Steering Committee meeting (SSC) took place on September 27th, 2021. The Annual Meeting, the Evaluating Committee for this year’s awards, and the Advisory Council were amongst the main items on the agenda.
In an effort to deliver a stimulating, cutting-edge programme at this year’s Annual Meeting, the SSC started making concrete plans for the event’s plenary sessions and will finalize this part of the programme by the time of the October steering Committee meeting. The best way to allocate sessions to time slots was also discussed including careful consideration of the challenge imposed by the different time zones of our community members.
The SSC appointed the Evaluation Committee for this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA), Award for Extraordinary Contributions to the field of Integrated assessment Modeling (ECA), and the Award for Early Career Researcher (ECRA). Nominations for these awards closed on September 30th: the SSC is grateful to those members who contributed nominations to this year’s awards programme.
The SSC discussed the outcome of the meeting with its IAMC Advisory Council on September 2nd, 2021. The Advisory Council helps to identify and coordinate potential resources to support the IAMC in fulfilling its mission, is a potential source of information about activities in other research communities that are relevant to ours, and helps the SSC coordinate with and communicate results of IAM community research to other research communities.
