IAMC 2024: Submission statistics
This year the submission process of the 17th IAMC Annual Meeting closed on May 20th with 332 submissions.The proposals for presentations are currently being evaluated on the basis of scientific quality, relevance for the themes and originality. There are also some secondary criteria, e.g. IAMC prefers not to have too many presentations of one team. Notifications on the results of the evaluation process are expected to be circulated in late June.
The following chart shows the number of submissions (for both oral and poster presentations) per topic. On the basis of the evaluation and number of submissions some topics can be merged into larger sessions.
Top 5 topics in terms of submissions are:
- NATIONAL – Assessment of national mitigation strategies. Assessing the effectiveness and consequences of climate policies at the national scale, including the implementation of nationally determined contributions, net-zero targets and mid-century strategies.
- IMPACTS – Impacts of climate change (including representation of the climate system). Modelling climate impacts in integrated assessment models.
- METHODS – Methodological advances in IAM research. Methodological issues related to IAMs, including open science and uncertainty analysis.
- JUSTICE – Climate justice (including equity and distributional impacts). Analysis of distributional aspects of mitigation strategies (both at the international and national scale) and the development of just transition strategies.
- SECTORS – Transport and buildings. Integrated assessment of pathways to carbon neutrality in individual sectors, including industry, transport, and building.
Considering the country of residence of the corresponding author, we received papers from 41 countries. In detail, per region:
